Sony Xperia smartphones have received some major updates in recent years, and it seems the entire line has been given a makeover. With Xperia 10 Plus, the manufacturer introduced a plus-sized handset offering a novel 21:9 aspect ratio – tailor-made for watching TV shows and movies. Besides a taller display, the smartphone also came with processor upgrades and a better aesthetic. Read through our Sony Xperia 10 Plus dual sim review and check out what else is on offer.
Design
The Xperia 10 Plus boasts a slender design, which may make it look aesthetically pleasing but also gives it a very delicate feel. On the front, it sports a strong Corning Gorilla Glass while the back is made of plastic. At its rear, you can find the dual rear lenses bulging out of the case.
On top of the smartphone, you’ll find a 3.5mm headphone jack, while the USB-C port goes with twin speaker perforations at the bottom. Towards the right, it has a fingerprint scanner along with the power button and the volume rocker. The buttons on the side are placed perfectly for a device as big as Sony Xperia 10 Plus.
The phone also comes with a sizeable bezel that houses the rear camera, LED notification light, and speaker perforation.
Display
The Xperia 10 Plus boasts a 6.5” Full HD display that is impressively bright. The colors, however, feel a bit muted. So, you can expect great display performance when watching TV shows and films with dark scenes, but as things get bright, you’ll easily notice the difference.
One of its major selling points is the 21:9 aspect ratio. According to the manufacturer, it allows you to watch movies exactly how filmmakers wanted you to. That’s because most of the movies are filmed in 21:9.
Cameras
Sony Xperia 10 Plus comes with a dual-camera array at its back. The dual-camera setup includes a 12mp f/1.75 aperture main sensor along with an 8mp f/2.4 aperture secondary camera. There’s a selfie camera as well that is 8mp f/2.0 aperture.
The software offers you different modes including Portrait Selfie Effects, a beauty filter, Creative Effect, and a unique skin-softening feature. The cameras also allow you to capture videos and photos at a 21:9 aspect ratio.
When it comes to performance, the rear cameras do well when you capture photos in bright light. You experience accurate colors and excellent dynamic range. However, there’s a little background detail loss too. In low-light settings, it shoots acceptable photos.
Performance
Xperia 10 Plus is powered by a Snapdragon 636 chipset and 4GB of RAM. While the performance is good overall, you can expect the phone to occasionally freeze when the camera app is running. However, there’s rarely any problem with day-to-day use. In fact, the device performs well enough when you’re multitasking.
Battery Life
The phone comes equipped with a 3000mAh battery, which certainly isn’t enough for such a big phone. Don’t expect it to last through the day all the time, even with moderate use.
