Samsung Galaxy S21 is a smarter, more refined, and budget-friendly flagship that is still relevant even when the newer models are available. Design
Samsung made some notable changes to the design, switching from S20’s full-glass rear to what they call ‘Glasstic’, which is a blend of glass and plastic. The rear has a matte finish, and it boasts a new camera block design. The metal edges on the phone lend it a premium touch.
On the bottom edge, the phone lines up the SIM tray, a speaker grille, and a USB-C port. The volume rocker and the power button are placed on the right side. There’s no Bixby button here, as on other Samsung handsets, and you will have to long-press the power button to launch Samsung’s assistant.
Display
The Samsung Galaxy S21 features a 6.2” Full HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate to ensure smooth scrolling and brilliant graphics. The colors are fantastic with string brightness levels. Though Samsung chose to downgrade the resolution from Quad HD in S20, you won’t notice any difference in everyday use. Besides, the refresh rate is adaptive and is set to 120Hz by default. It sticks when you are playing games, for instance, and it reduces where possible to help boost battery life.
Camera
The rear camera on this phone is the same triple-lens array featuring a 12MP main camera, a 12MP ultra-wide snapper, and a 64MP telephoto lens for 3x hybrid optical zoom. Just like the predecessor, the S21 cameras can capture some excellent snaps and offer somewhat improved performance with subtle software upgrades.
The front camera is a 10MP shooter that gives you decent shots. It’s a decent camera for video-calling too.
The cameras are also capable of 8K video recording at 24fps, offering great detail and video quality. It can also shoot 4K videos at 30fps and 60 fps and Full HD videos at 30fps, 60fps, and 240fps.
Performance
The handset is powered by a Snapdragon 888 or an Exynos 2100 chipset and promises 20% improved CPU performance, 35% better GPU speed, and an AI performance boost. Both the chips are combined with 8GB of RAM for seamless performance. Besides, you get 128GB or 256GB of storage on these devices. There is no microSD slot on the handset, though.
Battery Life
The Samsung Galaxy S21 is equipped with a 4000mAh battery that can last you through the day. It may not be the best battery to feature in a flagship, but it’s still competitive.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy S21 offers great performance, and it’s equally phenomenal with split-screen multitasking and intensive gaming.
