Samsung Galaxy Note 8 Review – A Big, Capable Smartphone With A Stylus

If you want a big smartphone, and that too with an economical price tag, Samsung Galaxy Note 8 still makes a great pick even today. Even though many newer, high-end devices have arrived since the initial release of this smartphone, it still ticks almost every box for most users. A stunning design, an excellent display, an improved S Pen stylus, and a perfect dual-lens camera, it has it all. Let’s have a complete Samsung Galaxy Note 8 review to give you the feel of this high-end device from Samsung.

Design

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is an aesthetically pleasing device with sharper edges. The camera module gets a little squarer too compared to the Galaxy S9 handsets. The iconic InfinityEdge design is complemented with an ultra-thin bezel at the top and the bottom. It comes coated in Corning Gorilla Glass 5 and looks great right out of the box.

The top bezel hosts the front camera, iris scanner, earpiece, and LED notification light. While you can’t see anything on the bottom bezel, it’s a pressure-sensitive home button. The Bixby and the volume rocker buttons are placed on the left, and the power button goes on the right. At the bottom, you can find a 3.5mm headphone jack, a USB-C connector, a loudspeaker, and the pop-out S Pen stylus. The SIM card/microSD card slots are located at the top.

The rear camera module features two cameras, LED flash, an optical heart-rate monitor, and

a fingerprint scanner. So, there is just about everything you need on a modern-day smartphone.

Display

The Samsung Galaxy Note 8 boasts a stunning Super AMOLED display – a 6.3” screen with 2960x1440px resolution and an 18:5:9 aspect ratio. It’s a sharp and crisp display that easily beats most competing devices, if not all of them. Honestly, with its maximum brightness, a wider color gamut, and 3K resolution with Mobile HDR Premium, it’s hard for other devices to compete with it.

Cameras

When the Galaxy Note 8 was first launched, its camera was the best camera to feature on any phone. The reason? Well, it captures clear and colorful photos and also offers a brilliant bokeh effect.

The dual-camera setup at the back features two 12MP cameras that boast optical image stabilization. However, they aren’t the same. The wide-angle camera features a high-end sensor with dual-pixel autofocus and larger pixels, something that the telephoto camera lacks. You’ll also love the 2x optical zoom, and the 4k video quality is just amazing.

Performance

The Galaxy Note 8 features Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor chip, up to 256 GB storage, and 6GB of RAM that all combine to make it a performance powerhouse. The phone works fast, fluid, and smooth, without giving you any glitches in everyday use.

Battery Life

It comes packed with a 3300mAh battery that is a touch smaller compared to the one featured in S8 Plus but offers similar battery life. It supports both fast wireless and wired charging. For most users, it will last through the day. However, if you have heavy usage, you might need to charge it in the evening.

Even after a few years since its initial launch, the Samsung Galaxy Note 8 is still a good handset to bet on. You get the best of everything, and that too at a fraction of the cost. But if you want the latest stuff, it might not be your go-to choice. But if you are looking for an economical option more than anything else, start exploring the best deals at Bulk Mobiles UK.
