A smartphone that comes with a whopping 41mp camera is, definitely, something any mobile photographer would love. Combine the heavy-weight camera with the custom camera app from Nokia, and the Nokia Lumia 1020 is certainly your dream phone. But there is more to it, and we’ll try to highlight all the great features in this Nokia Lumia 1020 review.
Design
If you think owning a Nokia Lumia 1020 would mean you’ll have to carry a bulky camera phone, you’ve got it all wrong. Your Lumia 1020 is only going to be a little thicker compared to the older Lumia 920 and Lumia 928 models with a significant physical resemblance.
It boasts standard dimensions of 5.1” height and 2.8” width while it is only 0.4” thick around most of the body. The bulk, however, comes from that big camera module at its back.
The smartphone follows the typical Lumia design with oblong volume, power, and camera buttons placed on its right spine, while the micro-SIM card slot and the headset jack are placed up top. The front features a camera alongside three capacitive buttons for navigation. There is also a Micro-USB charging port towards its bottom edge. The back features a big camera module with a 6-lens Carl Zeiss lens and a xenon flash. Besides, there’s an LED sidekick which is primarily used to focus.
Display
Nokia Lumia 1020 comes with a 4.5” AMOLED display with 1280x768px resolution and 334ppi pixel density. It’s a super-sensitive screen that can be operated even with gloved fingertips or your fingernails. It is also equipped with Gorilla Glass 3 that helps avoid cracks, but it can also break if the screen is smashed often or hard enough.
Camera
The camera is certainly the major feature on offer in this smartphone as you get a 41mp sensor. But it doesn’t mean that you’ll be shooting 41-megapixel photos with it all the time. The default setting stores 5mp oversampled pictures, and when you set its aspect ratio to 16:9, the camera captures 34mp photos. Now, changing it to a 4:3 aspect ratio will capture 38mp photos.
You can share those 5mp photos easily on Facebook, Twitter, and in email. However, if you want to share, print, or edit the bigger-sized photos, you’ll have to first transfer them to your computer. Transferring them directly would also consume your data plan.
Performance
The Nokia Lumia 1020 comes equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 chip that clocks at 1.5GGHz. Besides, there’s 2GB Ram and it runs impressively fast and smooth. You can quickly open and switch your apps while swiping and scrolling is also a breeze. It, sometimes, experiences lag issues with the Pro Cam app, however.
Battery
With a 2000mAh battery, the Windows phone offers long enough battery life. With regular use, you can expect it to last through the day very easily.
With such a great camera feature, you can expect your Nokia Lumia 1020 to perform well with apps like Snapseed, Vine, and Instagram. The camera certainly is the key highlight of this phone, but it does well on other fronts as well. Want to order now? Check out the best deals at Bulk Mobiles and grab a bargain.
