If you are in the market to upgrade to one of the newer devices, the Google Pixel 6 offers the best Android experience along with some amazing capabilities all-around. It comes with brilliant cameras, great photo editing features, improved Google Assistant with Android 12, and just about everything under the hood that will make you feel proud of your little gadget. It may not be the most powerful device on the horizon, but it still offers a lot more than most others would. Check out more details about Google’s new flagship in our Google Pixel 6 review here.
Design
The Google Pixel 6 offers quite a distinct and unusual design, and it is fairly hefty as well. The handset sports a two-tone rear, with a horizontal camera bar splitting it as it spans across the width of the device. It’s a bold and unique design and may even turn out to be the deal-breaker for anyone looking for a more modest-looking camera array.
The rear of the phone is made of glass and is accentuated by the matte metal frame, without making the phone feel cheaper by any means. On the front, you get a big 6.4” display with a camera cutout at the top and a fingerprint sensor under its glass panel at the bottom. The bezels are a bit thick-ish and make the phone look more like a mid-range device.
The volume and power keys are placed on the right edge of the phone. There’s a USB-C port at the bottom edge along with two symmetrical speaker openings.
Display
The handset features a big 6.4” display – the biggest on a Pixel phone after the Pixel 6 Pro’s 6.7” screen. It’s a Full HD Plus display with a 2400x1080 resolution with 441ppi pixel density. It offers a vibrant mix of colors and is very much at par with other competing devices.
The display also comes with a better, faster refresh rate. Yes, it is a 90Hz display that makes for smoother UI navigation and web browsing.
Cameras
The Pixel 6 comes with a whopping 50-megapixel main camera with an f/1.85 aperture and an 82-degree field of view. It also has a secondary 12-megapixel ultra-wide sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and 114-degree field of view.
The front camera is an 8-megapixel shooter with an f/2.0 aperture and an 84-degree field of view, placed in a punch-hole right at the top of the display.
While you don’t get an optical zoom here, the ‘Super Res Zoom’ gives you a 7x digital zoom. Quite unsurprisingly, the pictures shot using the Pixel 6 cameras come out great.
Performance
The Google Pixel 6 is powered by the Google-built SoC, Tensor. The chip also powers some of the key machine learning features of the handset, including photo-enhancing. Even though it doesn’t outperform any of the leading flagships, it brings enough power to take amazing photos and run the phone smoothly. Combine it with the Pixel 6’s 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage, and you shouldn’t have any performance issues whatsoever.
Battery Life
The handset packs a 4614mAh battery inside that will last you through a full day. According to Google’s claims, it can last up to 24 hours, and you can even extend it to 48 hours using the Extreme Battery Saver mode. The phone sports both wireless charging and fast charging features.
The Google Pixel 6 is a powerful handset that is not the most expensive option around. Go for it if you are looking to experience the latest Android and want smooth performance and great photos both in bright daylight and at night.
