The Blackview A70 is an entry-level smartphone that was launched to bring some technological advancements in the inexpensive phones market. With a beautiful design and some useful features, the Blackview A70 made a decent phone for its target market. From an octa-core processor to a triple camera setup and fingerprint sensor, the manufacturer tried to equip the phone with just about everything a modern-day user would want. But does it live up to the expectations? Let’s find out in our Blackview A70 review.
Design
From its looks, the Blackview A70 looks more like a novelty. The designers tried to mimic the flagship vibe in this entry-level handset by taking its exterior up a notch with features like a frameless screen and the triple camera module at the back. However, you get a plastic rear fingerprint reader and the same old teardrop notch at the front to house the selfie camera. The fingerprint sensor is placed right in the center while the camera setup is aligned in the left corner, giving the phone a more flagship appearance. The power button and the volume rocker are placed on the right side of the device.
Display
The Blackview A70 comes with a big 6.52” IPS LCD display with 720 x 1600p HD+ resolution, 29:9 aspect ratio, and 269ppi pixel density. That’s a big screen for an entry-level device, and the fact that it’s an LCD display is quite understandable considering the price point of this handset. Nevertheless, the display offers good enough brightness and contrast.
Cameras
The handset comes equipped with a triple camera setup on its back, something quite surprising for an entry-level device. The three sensors on the rear camera include a 13MP main sensor with an f/2.2 aperture and a couple of 0.3mp lenses. The camera array also includes a single LED flash. The front camera is a 5mp lens housed in a teardrop notch in the display.
The cameras do a decent job when capturing static objects and documents in perfect lighting. Other than that, however, you can expect to have blurred images with a lot of noise.
Performance
The Blackview A70 is equipped with a 1.6GHz Octa-core UniSoC SC9863A processor, accompanied by 3GB of RAM and a PowerVR GE8322 GPU. However, it’s not the best of devices you’d want to have when it comes to performance. While you may not experience many issues with general performance, gaming performance won’t be that great, and you’ll have to stick to casual gaming only. Also, remember that other demanding apps may lag sometimes, even when using minimal graphics presets.
Battery Life
The handset features a 5360mAh battery, making sure you never run out of power in the middle of the day, no matter how intensively you are using your device. In fact, it can easily last you 2-3 days of regular use. It won’t give you any hiccups.
If you are looking for a decent-looking handset for routine calling and messaging, the Blackview A70 would be a good choice. However, it’s just an entry-level device and should be taken as such.
