Apple iPhone 13 Review – An iPhone For Those On A Budget

If you have always thought ‘iPhone on a budget’ is a myth, the iPhone 13 will prove you wrong here. It may not be the true game-changer from Apple, but it does ace its predecessor on many fronts, including battery life, processor power, and camera setup. If you want a capable and fast smartphone and can live without the add-on features offered by the pricier iPhone 13 Pro, iPhone 13 should be a perfect pick for you. Let’s explore what makes the iPhone 13 one of the best phones around in our iPhone 13 review.

Design

The iPhone 13 doesn’t look and feel dramatically different from the older iPhone 12. It comes with the same flat-edge design, making the edges a bit more angular. The glass front and rear of the phone not only give it a pleasing aesthetic but also add to its strength and durability. The front glass uses the Ceramic Shield tech that debuted with the iPhone 12.

The front of the device is occupied by a big 6.1” display with thin bezels around it. There’s also a small notch that takes up some of the screen real estate at the top. The rear is plain and looks sophisticated. The Apple logo goes in the center while the camera array takes the top-left. The cameras are placed diagonally to give it a more interesting look.

The phone hosts the silence switch, the SIM tray, and the volume buttons on its left edge. The right side of the device is home to the power button. The bottom edge accommodates the Lightning port connector and the speakers.

Display

The iPhone 13 comes equipped with a big 6.1” Super Retina XDR OLED display that boasts a 2532 x 1170 resolution. It’s very bright and clear, even in direct sunlight. Even though the display doesn’t sport the adaptive 120Hz refresh rate that makes the key highlight on the iPhone 13 Pro, it’s a stellar OLED panel and makes for a great viewing experience.

Cameras

The iPhone 13 comes with a dual camera setup that includes a 12mp (f/1.6) wide camera alongside a 12mp (f/2.4) ultrawide snapper with a 120-degree field-of-view. The front camera uses a 12mp (f/2.2) lens that does a nice job with photos and video calls.

There are plenty of camera tweaks and upgrades to make your photos better. The phone can also shoot 4K videos at 24fps, 30fps, and 60fps. You can also record Full HD videos at 30fps, 60fps, 120fps, and 240fps. The phone also has a Cinematic Mode for filming with a bokeh effect.

Performance

Apple iPhone 13 is powered by the A15 Bionic chip that includes a 6-core CPU and a 4-core GPU. On top of that, a major improvement from the A14 Bionic chip is its 16-core Neural Engine for improved AI and machine learning. Add to that 4GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and the iPhone 13 won’t give you any issues with performance.

It’s a powerful device that ensures seamless everyday performance. You may not notice that much if you’re upgrading from an iPhone 12, but it’ll be a massive leap from the iPhone 8 or older. It launches apps instantly, swaps between them flawlessly, and is a breeze to use. The gaming performance is also fantastic.

Battery Life

The iPhone 13 packs a 3240mAh battery inside. It may not offer the best backup as other smartphones, but it is certainly a significant improvement on older iPhone models.

The Apple iPhone 13 made headlines with a brighter display, powerful cameras, and an extended battery life when it was first launched. It’s also a more affordable pick than the higher-end iPhone 13 Pro.
