Alcatel 3V Review – A Low Price Phone With A Mix Of Good And Bad

When you first look at the Alcatel 3V, it will give you a few surprises as the inexpensive device comes with some high-end features that made headlines for the flagships. The big 6” FHD screen, dual cameras on the back, faceID, and fingerprint scanner have all featured in this low-price phone, giving budget buyers a lot to love about this handset. However, you need to keep in mind that it’s a budget phone that may be equipped with some high-end features but makes some disappointing cuts as well. Let’s explore more details about this budget handset in our Alcatel 3V review.

Design

The Alcatel 3V is a sleek device with invisible bezels. The bezels show up when you wake your phone, and it looks modern from the front with only an on-screen navigation bar and no physical home button. Its sides are made using cheap-feeling plastic, but the back of the phone is glassy and highly scratch-friendly.

Its bottom edge is equipped with a micro USB port and speaker holes on either side. There’s a textured power button on the right, accompanied by a SIM/microSD card slot. On the other side, you can find the volume buttons. The top of the phone features a 3.5mm headphone jack. The rear of the device hosts the dual-camera setup, with a fingerprint scanner placed just below it.

Display

The large LCD screen is much-appreciated for such a budget-friendly device. It’s a 6” FHD screen with a 1080x2160 resolution. The IPS display comes with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 400ppi pixel density. The screen looks bright, but it’s a fingerprint magnet. It also lacks Gorilla Glass protection, which is quite understandable for a budget device like Alcatel 3V.

Camera

You don’t often get a dual-camera setup on such budget phones, but Alcatel managed to pull the trick. The phone is equipped with 12MP and 2MP sensors on the rear. The manufacturer describes the main sensor as ‘up to 16MP’ camera. That’s actually the default resolution setting. Similarly, the front camera is a 5MP snapper optimized to 8MP resolution with some software tricks.

Overall, the cameras are pretty competent. If you shoot in bright sunshine, however, the pictures will be a little darker. But some quick editing can fix that. You can also shoot 1080p videos with the main camera and 720p videos with the front camera. They may be a bit too grainy, though.

Performance

The Alcatel 3V packs a MediaTek 8735A chip inside, accompanied by 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. It performs really well in everyday use, and the gaming performance is fine too. However, a noticeable lag is there while switching apps and playing games.

Battery Life

The handset comes with a 3000mAh battery that will take you through the day when doing everyday stuff and with adaptive brightness turned on. It lacks fast charging, a disappointment for some considering the fact that it’s available on many cheaper phones today.

Overall, Alcatel 3V is a good pick for a budget phone, and it comes with a few features that will actually surprise you. You can grab a bargain by shopping for your new handset at Bulk Mobiles UK. Start looking now!
